A special prayer and holy mass was offered to invoke blessings on the Japanese people, who lost their lives and property due to the earthquake and tsunami in the country.

Speaking at the prayer meeting Rev. Fr. Sigamoney recalled the service rendered by Caritas-Japan and the Government of Japan to the tsunami-affected people in Sri Lanka in 2004. He further said that Caritas Sri Lanka-SEDEC is in the process of providing relief and also offering spiritual services for the people and their speedy recovery.

Suguru Minoya, Head of the Economic Cooperation section thanked Caritas Sri Lanka - SEDEC for its efforts towards Japan and its people.

He also disclosed that the present condition in the affected area is still bad, thus the relief team is unable to reach the place and it will take some time to provide for and assist the victims.
