Program for O/L classes, a success:

Special lessons for A/L students

Programs to provide special lessons will be organised for GCE Advanced Level students during weekends as was done for GCE Ordinary Level students, said Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena.

The lecture notes and model questions and answers prepared by senior teachers will be made available to the students during lectures he said.

Over 1,250 such programs were held islandwide for GCE O/Level students. Teachers of national schools participated in such seminars held islandwide. Such teachers deserve our gratitude, the Minister said.

He said that the special lessons program was a success. For the first time, the number of students passing the core subjects at the GCE O/Level examination has significantly increased.

The percentage of students who had passed in Mathematics, Science and English has increased to 61.61, 59.80 and 41.41 this year.

Out of 310,641 students who sat for the GCE O/Level examination 195,112 have qualified to follow Advanced Level studies. -LSAW
