Sahan Pradeep - Most preferred PS member

"My vision is to create a convenient and comfortable environment for the voters in the Mahara Pradeshiya Sabha area," said Sahan Pradeep Vithana, Chairman - designate of the Mahara Pradeshiya Sabha who contested on the UPFA ticket and obtained the highest preferential votes at the recent local government election.

He had obtained 26,370 preferential votes. Sahan, who was the Chairman Mahara PS during the last four years and eight months said that he had implemented over 2,000 village based projects under the guidance of Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Deputy Construction and Housing Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanne during the last few years.

"We ensured the people's participation in the implementation of these projects. The Sinhala translations of the project documents were provided to the people to make them aware of what was happening around them. It was a very successful that we could get their fullest cooperation in the implementation of these projects," he said.

"Development of roads, construction of libraries and Ayurvedic hospitals were only a few of the projects implemented in the Mahara PS area. There is no modern town in PS area.

Even the Mahara town comes under the Biyagama PS One of my aims is to build a full pledged town within the Mahara PS administration", he said.

Sahan who holds a diploma in Local Government of the Sri Lanka Institute of L.G. is a past of pupil of Mahabodhi Vidyalaya and Kadawatha Central College.

He entered politics having contested the Mahara PS in 2002.
