Gateway beat AIS and Lyceum to win Netball C’ship
Netball: Gateway College, Colombo were worthy winners of the over 15
girls Netball Championship that was organised by the Colombo
International School and was played at the Henry Pedris Park. Gateway’s
under 15 girls emerged runners-up in the same tournament.
In the final, Gateway beat Asian International School by 19 points to
8. Sandali Weerasinghe (15) Anjani Kulawansa (4) were outstanding in
their shooting. In group matches, Gateway beat Lyceum Wattala by 15
points to 3 and Leighton Park International 14 goals to 1.
In the semi-final, Gateway beat Lyceum Nugegoda 19 goals to 6.
Gateway’s Sandali Weerasinghe was named the Netball Queen of the
tournament and Vijini Dahanayake received the award for being the Best
Defensive Player.
In the under 15 category, Shanali Ranatunga of Gateway was chosen the
Best Centre Court Player.
