Kinross six-mile sea swim today

SEA SWIM: The 46th annual open six-mile sea swim organised by Kinross Swimming and Life-Saving Club will be held today starting at 7.30 a.m. The course of the swim will be, as in previous years, from the sea opposite Kinross Club at Wellawatte to Mount Lavinia and back to the finishing point located opposite the club in Wellawatte.

Last year there were 79 men and 8 girls who faced the starter. The winner of the men’s event was T.K.S. Weerakkody of Sri Lanka Army with a time of 2 hours 23 minutes and 47 seconds.

The winner in the women’s event was K.G.G. Dilanjalee of Seenigama Aquatic Club in a time of 2 hours 48 minutes and 27 seconds. The overall men’s champions were Sri Lanka army.

Mobitel (Pvt Ltd who sponsored the swim last year has come forward to sponsor the event along with Rajan Sudnerampillai - a senior member of the club.
