by Ananda KANNANGARA
The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) yesterday warned nearly 1,000
dansal owners to be vigilant over the hygienic conditions of food items
that are provided to people during the Vesak season from Tuesday.
CMC Commissioner Badrani Jayawardana told the Sunday Observer that a
large number of dansal owners has already informed the CMC on their
willingness of setting up dansals in the city during the Vesak Week and
a special team of CMC officials have been deployed to examine the
quality and hygienic conditions of food items provided.
She said this program will be conducted under the guidance of the CMC
Chief Medical officer, Public Health Department, Dr. Pradeep
Kariyawasam. Dansal owners have been also instructed to be careful over
the locations where dansals are set up.
