Abans to diversify
Abans, has been reaching out to urban as well as rural families with
its world renowned products with easy payment terms and is now looking
at opportunities to diversify.

Chairperson and Managing Director Abans, Aban Pestonjee said that
with the end of the war against terrorism, there is tremendous potential
for tourism which the company is studying with the intention of setting
up resorts and venturing into attractions and entertainment for
tourists.
"We are looking for suitable sites for these new ventures and are
also in the process of developing lands already owned by the company,"
she said.
Abans is also looking at building shopping malls within the city
limits where locals as well as tourists can have more opportunity for
entertainment. Pestonjee said that her vision has been to develop
department stores with entertainment and food courts everything under
one roof, where families can spend the whole day.
Pestonjee lauded the Governments ongoing development drive and
expressed satisfaction over the Colombo restructuring projects. She said
the development drive needs to be expedited to achieve set targets.
Pestonjee said that there were changes in consumer preferences.
People were looking for quality products and quality services at
affordable prices which Abans was able to offer.
Purchasing power for such items has improved remarkably since the
previous year.
Pestonjee said "Consumers have also become very brand conscious and
prefer to invest in world famous brand names."
"Abans has teamed up with leading multinational brands and
continuously gathers inputs from them for better service and better
products," she said.
