Channel 4 drama:

Maj Gen Shavendra Silva sifts fact from fiction

Armed with ‘evidence’ and videos many gathered at the UN Church Centre right across the United Nations Headquarters in New York to tarnish the image of Sri Lanka; sponsored by Amnesty International (AI), Human Rights Watch and the International Crisis Group to screen the documentary ‘Sri Lanka’s Killing Fields’ by film producer Cullum McRae which was telecast over the UK-based TV station Channel 4. The team claimed that the documentary confirms the findings of the Darusman Report.

Lanka closely monitoring LTTE court case in EU

The Europol’s EU Terrorism Situation and Trend Report (TE-SAT 2011) states that in 2010, 27 individuals were arrested for terrorist offences linked to the financing of the LTTE in France, Germany and the Netherlands. It has also mentioned that the LTTE has been engaged in organised crimes such as the facilitation of illegal immigration, credit card skimming, money laundering, and fraud for the purpose of funding terrorist operations.

New Galle bus stand links railway station

Since the infamous invasion by the Portuguese in 1505 the Southern capital city of Galle has gone through good times and bad. The 2004 tsunami can be singled out as the saddest moment in the history of Galle. It not only took away lives and limbs of people and animals it also destroyed valuable property running into several billions.
