The elephant before she fell sick

Anuradha bids adieu:

A tragedy of elephantine proportions

She was a mother of three and a grandmother too. Her eldest daughter has one baby. She was a calm and quiet beauty of the elephant orphanage at Pinnawala. This giant beauty - Anuradha - is no more with us. She breathed her last around 6.30 a.m. last Thursday at the age of 29.

Great stupa named after goddess Swarnamali

Lost in deep thought Goddess Swarnamali sat comfortably in her palace chair on the tree. King Dutugemunu and the crowd had been pleading for hours now. The king wanted to build a stupa at the premises where her tree palace was situated. He also had promised to name the stupa after her.
