Aquacultural meeting in Colombo
The Asian Regional Ministerial Meeting on Aquaculture for Food
Security, Nutrition and Economic Development will be held in Colombo
from July 26 to 29.
The meeting will be hosted by the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources
Development Ministry along with the Food and Agriculture Organisation
and the Network of Aquaculture Centres of Asia, Thailand
Over 70 fisheries and key fisheries policymakers representing 18
countries will take part in the meeting. Two ministerial meetings will
be held at the Hilton, Colombo. President Mahinda Rajapaksa will
inaugurate the meeting.
The countries taking part in the conference are China, India,
Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Bangladesh, Fisheries and Aquatic
Resources Development sources said.
The meeting will conclude with the Colombo Declaration which will
provide guidance and direction for aquaculture development in the
Asia-Pacific.
