Publicity blitz to counter concocted video:

Channel 4 replaying Tamil Selvam’s old record

Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister Dullas Allahapperuma said that the British Channel 4 is today playing the same role played by LTTE Political Wing Leader Tamil Selvam to promote the concept of separatism. The Government has a responsibility to debunk this ploy to the world. The Defence Ministry has already launched its publicity blitz to counter the concocted Channel 4 video, the Minister told the Sunday Observer. He said the video documentary compiled by the Defence Ministry has clearly proved that this is a concocted video.

Minister Allahapperuma said that according to the theory adopted by the West, an internal conflict in a country can be solved only through negotiations and not by military means.

He said there is an organised conspiracy to dislodge the Government.

This conspiracy comes as a result of the collapse of the theory adopted by the West. President Mahinda Rajapaksa is the only leader who challenged this Western theory and eradicated terrorism by military means.

Our former leaders such as R.Premadasa, Ranil Wickremesinghe and Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga also accepted this Western theory.

However, President Rajapaksa said the terrorist problem in Sri Lanka can be solved by military means.

Therefore, the West is exerting pressure on Sri Lanka

over the past two decades, he said.

The Minister said “We should not provide any room for the conspiracy launched to undermine our humanitarian operation which set as example to the entire world on how to defeat terrorism.”
