Brand Excellence Awards 2011 launched

Small and medium sector enterprises have gained global recognition forming the nucleus for economic growth, said President, Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM), Thushara Perera. He was addressing a ceremony to launch the Brand Excellence Awards 2011 on Wednesday.

"Many small and medium scale enterprises have reached great heights and have transformed into large scale businesses generating revenue to the country", Perera said.

The Brand Excellence Awards ceremony will be held for the 10th consecutive time by SLIM, the premier institution that recognises and rewards brands for excellence in marketing.

Chairman of the Panel of Judges and Marketing Director Homes Care and Foods, Unilever Sri Lanka, Asanga Ranasinghe said SLIM has taken the lead in creating the much needed brand culture in the country.

Branding is essential to compete on a level playing field in overseas markets. The Brand Excellence Awards ceremony will be held on October 18 at the Water's Edge. LF
