Jobs for 9,000 Lankan youth in S. Korea

Nine thousand Sri Lankan youth will find direct employment in South Korea under the 2011 Korean employment program, said a spokesman for the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE).

Over 50,930 applications for Korean jobs were issued by the Bureau recently under the program.

Applicants will have to sit a Korean Language proficiency test from October 8-9 at 28 centres countrywide.

SLBFE Chairman Kingsley Ranawake told the Sunday Observer that 9,000 applicants will be selected and their names will be in the Bureau website to enable the Korean employers to select suitable persons.

He said the salaries range from Rs. 100,000 to Rs. 125,000 with other perks. Those selected will leave for Korea in batches from February next year. AK
