FACETS 2011:
Good response from high profile buyers
FACETS 2011, organised by the Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association
(SLGJA) will be held from September 8-11 at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike
Memorial Exhibition Centre for the 21st consecutive year.
SLGJA Secretary Ziqufi Ismail said, "High profile international
buyers have confirmed their participation for this year's show. Online
registrations have surpassed the previous year's ".
He said two Chinese delegations have confirmed participation for the
event and there will be 19 members in both delegations. A Russian
delegation with 16 members has also confirmed participation.
Of the 154 exhibition booths over 90 percent has been sold one month
prior to the event, which shows the keen interest of exhibitors, he
said.
Sri Lankan diplomats around the world assisted to promote FACETS
internationally and the Export Development Board (EDB) facilitates trade
delegations for the show.
FACETS 2011 is an ideal public-private partnership project, he said.
With the economic boom and conducive environment in the country there is
a huge response for this year's show, he said.
"Many Foreign buyers as well as buyer delegations from Russia, India
and China have confirmed participation.
We are in the process of arranging all details of the delegations,"
SLGJA Vice Chairman (Promotion and Trade Fairs) Juzar Adamaly said. "We
are also participating in shows in China, Russia, Singapore and India to
promote FACETS. As we are one of the main source countries for fine gems
we are very competitive. Even though FACETS is not a mega exhibition,
buyers have confidence when buying from Sri Lanka," he said.
FACETS 2011 is sponsored and endorsed by the EDB and the National Gem
and Jewellery Authority (NGJA). The Bank of Ceylon (BoC) is the official
banker.
