Deyyoth Danne ne premiere at Lumbini

The premiere of Deyyoth Danne ne directed by Sarath Kulanga will be held at the Lumbini Theatre, Colombo on August 24 at 6.45 pm.

The cast includes Wijaya nandasiri, Sarath Kulanga, Kumara Thirimadura, Ananda Athukorla, Sadda Uthpalakandage, Thushari Gunarathne, Tharaka Upendra and Bandula Fonseika. Art direction is by Jagath Padmasiri. Stage lighting is handled by Upali Weerasinghe. Deyyoth danne ne is written by Ajith Mendis and produced by Jude Srimal.

Punchi Apata Den Therei and Thoppi Welenda

Somalatha Subasinghe's Lanka Children's and Youth Theatre Foundation or popularly known as Play-House, Kotte presents musical theatre for the family during school vacation at the Lionel Wendt theatre. On August 27 Punchi Apata Den Therei (We know it now) and Toppi Welenda (The hat seller) and on August 28 Vikurthi (distortion) will go on the boards at 3.30 and 7.00 p.m.

Punchi Apata Den Therei and Toppi Welenda are based on well-known folk tales and are produced as musicals and in the adaptations, new characters and situations have been incorporated to communicate with the Sri Lankan child. Both plays are written and directed by Somalatha Subasinghe. Music for plays is by M. R. Chulasinghe.

The cast comprises Wickrama Seneviratne, Mayura Kanchana, Dilum Buddhika, Sulochana Weerasinghe, Geetha Alahakoon, Nimmi Priyadharshini, Lahiru Nimantha, Pramod Edirisinghe, Dilip Kumara, Thilina Perera and Palitha Abeyratne.


Mohan's art goes on display

The GIZ office down Jawatte Avenue, Colombo will display Mohan Sudusinghe's paintings for six weeks. The exhibition was opened on August 11.

Mohan Sudusinghe, takes inspiration from his passion for dancing. Much of his work follows the rhythmic movements of a dancer in motion. Using mixed media such as acrylic, wire, paper and gum, Mohan has carved for himself a unique style that defies definition. Entirely self-taught, Mohan took up painting seriously in 2001 when he was forced to stay away from dance until a knee injury was healed.


Romaya Ginigani -2

Bandula Vithanage's popular drama Romaya Ginigani-2 will go on the boards on August 27 at 3.00 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. at Yovun Nikhetanaya in Mirigama and on August 28 at 3.00 p.m. and 6.30 p.m at Yovun Nikhetanaya in Anuradhapura. It will be staged on September 2 at the Youth Centre theatre in Maharagama.


Mekiyana Situvam

The 88th exhibition of paintings entitled Mekiyana Situvam by Wasantha Namaskara will be held from August 28 -31 at Suvandamal Kinithi Visual Arts Gallery in Belihuloya.


Piya Satahan

Piya Satahan , a concert by Mithra Kapuge, son of Gunadasa Kapuge will be held today at 6.00 p.m. at Ananda College in Maradana.


Kivvadda Nahi Nokivvadda Nahi

Janitha Marasinghe's comedy Kivvadda Nahi Nokivvadda Nahi is to hit the cinema soon. It is a comedy and a family movie. The cast includes Ranjan Ramanayake, Tennison Cooray and Ananda Wickramage.
