Rs. 3,100 million to develop Moneragala district - Minister Basil Rajapaksa
Despite attempts at dislodging the government's development programs
and conspirators being at work besmirching public officials, we standby
our people and work for their well-being said Economic Development
Minister Basil Rajapaksa at the district development committee meeting
held at the Moneragala district Secretariat recently.
A huge sum of Rs. 3,100 million was allocated for the development
priorities of the district, such as road carpeting, implementation of
livelihood development projects and acceleration of Samurdhi and "Gama
Naguma" programs.
District Secretary U.K.S. Mihindu Kulasuriya said that the Moneragala
district which consists of Moneragala, Bibile and Wellawaya electorate
had the highest poverty rates in the past and during the last five years
one could perceive a visible change in the situation.
Moneragala district development committee Co-Chairman and Coconut
Development Minister, Jagath Pushpakuamra said that President Mahinda
Rajapaksa, Economic Develolpment Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Defence
Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa deserve the highest encomiums of the
Wellassa people for ending the thirty year terrorist war and ensuring a
terror-free atmosphere throughout the country. Parliamentary Affairs
Minister Sumdedha Jayasena, Agrarian Services and Wildlife Minister S.M.
Chandrasena, Deputy Minister Vijithamuni de Soysa, MP Vijitha Berugoda,
Uva Chief Minister Shashindra Rajapaksa, Provincial Councillors and
Pradeshiya Sabha members participated.
