State Music festival on Tuesday

The State music festival will be held at Temple Trees on August 30, at 5.00 P.M. under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. It is jointly organised by the Department of Cultural Affairs. State Music Panel of Sri Lanka Art Council under the direction of the Ministry of Cultural and Arts Affairs.

The Awards will be presented under 16 sections in Sinhala and Tamil media for the best creation of the years 2009 and 2010 which include the Best Singer of the year ; solo ( Male & Female), Best Children's Music of the year solo (Boys & Girls), Best Folk Songs solo (Male & Female ), Tunes, Music Creation, Composition of Songs, Composition of Visual songs, Compact Discs, Compositions of Children's songs ( Open), Children's tunes and music creations, Children's Visual Songs, Compact Discs of Children's Songs, Folk Music ( Group) , New creations of Folk Songs.

The Awards with financial prizes will be presented to 10 prominent áartistes engaged in producing new creations in the field of folk music, accomplished with Sri Lankan classical music, North Indian classical music, South Indian classical music, western music, creative music, music education, composition of song, voice training and cinematic music.
