Sharp drop in supplies to Dambulla Economic Centre

Enforcing strict regulations for the transport of fruits and vegetables in crates, has caused a sharp drop in the supply of fruits and vegetables to the Dambulla Special Economic Centre. The Traders’ Association said that only potatoes and red onions supplies reached the market on the first day.

EDB to hold road show, business meetings in UK

The Export Development Board (EDB) and the Sri Lanka High Commission in London has organised a Road show and business meetings for selected ICT BPO exporters from Sri Lanka . Around 55 applications were received by the EDB and we plan to select 8-10 companies for the event from November 8-10. in UK, said EDB Chairman Janaka Ratnayaka.

Stakeholders’ views sought for Budget 2012

Prior to preparing the 2012 Budget, Finance Ministry Secretary Dr P.B.Jayasundera visited most of the districts and met stakeholders to seek their views on the budget. Last year President Mahinda Rajapaksa too visited all districts in addition to having meetings with all sectors and stakeholders at Temple Trees, said a Finance Ministry source.
