Kotikawatte - Mulleriyawa Pradeshiya Sabha:
Prins Gunasekara vows to render more efficient service
UPFA candidate for Kotikawatte-Mulleriyawa Pradeshiya Sabha, Prins
Gunasekara said that his aim is to render a more efficient service to
the ratepayers.
Gunasekara, a Deputy Sports Editor of Dinamina newspaper and a relief
announcer at the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, functioned as a
member of the Kotikawatte-Mulleriyawa PS for 18 years undefeated.
Q: Are you satisfied that you had done some service to your
ratepayers?
A: Yes. Due to my constant representations to the authorities
during the last few years, a water tank is being constructed at
Gothatuwa New Town to ensure an uninterrupted water supply to over
12,000 families in the area.
In addition, I took initiative in setting up a library, community
centres and roads.
Q: Any future development projects?
A: The UDA has already finalised the places to redevelop
Gothatuwa public cemetery. I got the Pradeshiya Sabha to allocate a sum
of Rs. 4 million for this purpose. Work on the project will begin after
elections. Provision of library facilities to village area will help
improve literacy.
Q: What is your political and educational background?
A: I had my primary education at Gothatuwa and Thurstan Maha
Vidyalayas. I have followed a course in Mass Media at the Colombo
University. I had joined the SLFP in 1989 and contested the Pradeshiya
Sabha elections in 1991. In 1997, I had obtained 5,192 preferential
votes and continued to work for the party.
Q: Do you entertain radical views?
A: I had always fought for the people. There are no bribery or
corruption charges against me. As I am holding a responsible position
and living a decent life there is no need for me to exploit public
funds.
Q: Any future hopes?
A: My aim is to introduce an efficient administration to the
Pradeshiya Sabha.
