Bharatha, two others killed in shoot out

Duminda injured:

Presidential Trade Union Advisor and former Parliamentarian of the Colombo District Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and two others including a bodyguard of Premachandra were killed and five others injured in a shooting incident involving Colombo District UPFA MP Duminda Silva yesterday evening. The incident took place close to Angoda IDH hospital.

More ex-Tigers in Canada renounce violence

Five years after they were apprehended buying arms for the LTTE, three Canadians have signed an open letter from prison acknowledging they were wrong and renouncing political violence. “We incorrectly believed that violence could achieve the goals that we sought,” they wrote. “We now realise that what we did was not helpful in leading to a positive resolution of the issues in Sri Lanka.”

Korean warships on three-day visit

The friendly Naval relationship between Sri Lanka and the Republic of Korea enhanced once again when two Korean made Navy ships "Kang Gam Chan", a destroyer and "Chun-Ji", a fast combat support ship engaged in Cruise Training Task Force, called at the Colombo Port last Thursday on a three day visit.

Two men lurking under the cover of darkness suddenly sprang up and walked towards Dr. Priyanka Prasad Jayasinghe who was going towards his car parked on the opposite side of his private dispensary at Maha-Edanda at Karandeniya.
