Burma’s Aung San Suu Kyi registers NLD party
Burma’s pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi has
officially registered her National League for Democracy (NLD) party
and visited parliament. During a visit to the capital, Naypyidaw,
she also met with the speakers of the two houses. Her party was
declared illegal after it boycotted last year’s elections, widely
criticised as undemocratic.

Earth-size planets spotted around distant star
Scientists have found two Earth-sized planets
orbiting a star outside the solar system, an encouraging sign for
prospects of finding life elsewhere. The discovery shows that such
planets exist and that they can be detected by the Kepler
spacecraft, said Francois Fressin of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center
for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Mass.

Beethoven’s hearing loss linked to lack of high notes in his
music- research
Beethoven’s progressive deafness shaped his
later musical style as he switched to lower notes as he had
difficulty hearing higher ones, a study has found. Researchers have
analysed Beethoven’s music through his life as his hearing problems
are said to have progressed. It was found that his compositions
gradually included fewer high notes as he aged.
