Shed negative attitude towards LLRC, Minister tells TNA

Foreign Employment Welfare Minister Dilan Perera said the attempts made by certain elements to criticise the LLRC report right now looks like criticising our own country and playing into the hands of the rump LTTE all over the world which attempts to tarnish the image of Sri Lanka.

Obviously, the LLRC recommendations have positive responses as well as the negative responses.

The LLRC report has been prepared by eminent people in our country by collecting evidence from people in the north, south and across the country. It is natural in a country like Sri Lanka as there are certain elements who want to have a negative approach about the LLRC report.

Some Sri Lankans criticise a valid document within 10 minutes. Even if the entire world endorses the LLRC report, some elements will continue to criticise the LLRC report, the Minister told the Sunday Observer.

" However, we must congratulate the LLRC Commission for its candid efforts to prepare this report. This is not a report like the Darusman report or any other internationally sponsored report. This is a report prepared by a group of eminent Sri Lankans within our territory collecting evidence from Sri Lankans all over the country."

Sometimes it is so surprising to see the people who are attacking the LLRC report. Some countries in the Western world are criticising the LLRC report. The TNA also rejects the LLRC report and says it has not addressed the problems faced by the Tamils. Twin brothers of the TNA, the extreme political groups in the South are also criticising the LLRC report and say this report attempts to give too much of power to the Tamil people, he said.
