Health test for State employees

The Health Authorities plan to subject the State sector employees to medical tests. The reports will be provided free, Health Ministry said.

The program will be implemented under the guidance of Minister Maithripala Sirisena. There are 1.3 million employees in the State sector and they will be subject to tests on a gradual basis, according to the Ministry.

At the initial phase health sector employees will be subjected to the test. There is a rise in the number of patients who are affected.

People must be made aware of epidemics, the Ministry said.

The Ministry said that over 300,000 are working only in the State health sector.

The test will be carried out on body weight too.

Special attention will be focused on the diseases caused due to smoking and liquor, an officer attached to the Ministry said.
