Abinayadarpana
Vimalothaya Classical Bharatha Natya Kendra will present a Classical
Bharatha Natya recital Abinayadarpana on January 21 at 6 p.m. at the
Ramakrishna Mission Hall, Wellawatte to mark the centenary celebration
of the great Bharatha Natya Maestro, the late Padmashree Vazhuvoor
Ramiahpillai. Abinayadarpana features Subashini Pathmanathan and her
disciples. The Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Prof.
Kshanika Hirimburegama will be the chief guest.

The HSBC Galle Literary Festival 2012 will be held from January 18
-22 in the historic city of Galle.
The 2012 festival features a wide array of literati including award
winning writers, historians, poets and biographers from Palestine,
Ireland, Sierra Leone, Singapore, India, Canada, England, the United
States, Germany and Sri Lanka.
Among the writers attending are Joanna Trollope, Richard Dawkins, Tom
Stoppard, D.B.C Pierre, Meera Syal, John Boyne, Aminatta Forna, Simon
Sebag Montefiore, Sir Alistair Horne, Nayantara Sahgal, Hari Kunzru, and
Sri Lankan local and diasporic writers Romesh Gunasekera, Randy
Boyagoda, Roshi Fernando.
The highlights of the festival include a debate on issues dealing
with Post-war Sri Lanka and there will be panels on Dr. Martin
Wickramasinghe, the Tamil Diaspora and a documentary and discussion on
the Burgher community.
German writer Ingo Schlze at GLF 2012
Also in 2012 the Goethe-Institut Sri Lanka is contributing to the
Galle Literary Festival with the invitation of a wellknown German
author.
Ingo Schulze will represent in the program with three events on
January 19, 20 and 21.
Ingo Schulze, born in Dresden in 1962, studied classics and German
language and literature in Jena before working as dramatic arts advisor
to the State Theatre in Altenburg.
LankaFaces
LankaFaces, an exclusive artists' website will be launched on January
25 at 7.00p.m. at Cinnamon Grand Hotel. LankFaces will be the first ever
website to be launched in Sri Lanka about the artists.
SAA
Victor Ratnayake's SAA will be held on January 22 at BMICH at 6.00
p.m to raise funds for Kosala Dullewa Foundation for Children with
Special Needs (KDF).
