KANDY SPORTS CLUB: The Annual General Meeting of the 38-year-old Kandy Sports Club will be held at the Club Auditorium on January 22 (Sunday) commencing at 10.30 am.

The main sport of this club is rugby which they have dominated in a big way, winning both the Cliffered Cup Knock-Out Tournament and the Caltex League Title the most number of times since they turned around in 1992 when they won their maiden trophy.

Former Vidyartha College and Trinity College ruggerite Saliya Kumar who donned the national jersey with distinction is tipped to lead Kandy Sports Club next season.

In fact, Saliya Kumara who is a utility player but plays as full-back was captain-elect last season but could not play last year after a one year suspension clamped on him after a five nations rugby tournament match played in Colombo last year. This suspension is expected to be lifted in March this year.
