Big hitting by Lahiru Hasanka, but Wayamba Royal lose to Azhar Central

CRICKET: In one of the finest displays of big hitting, Lahiru Hasanka of Wayamba Royal College, Kurunegala thumped 12 sixes and 3 fours in his knock of 103 but found himself in the losing as his team lost to Azar Central College by eight wickets in their inter-school cricket match concluded at Azar Central College grounds, Akurana during the week.

Some of the sixes hit by Lahiru Hasanka cleared the grounds and he reached his hundred in only 50 balls and was dismissed leg before wicket in trying to drive across.

For Azar Central College, the match winner was off-spinner Mohamed Anas who had a match haul of 10 for 58 though he got some stick during the heroics by Lahiru Hasanka.

Wayamba Royal College: 130 all out in 37 overs (Lahiru Hasanka 24, Chamatha Maduwantha 24, Chanaka Gamage 32 not out, Umair Khan 3 for 20, H.M. Hafeez 3 for 30, M.Z. Anas 3 for 7) and 187 all out in 40 overs (Lahiru Hasanka 103, Akila Withanage 12, Avishka Chamal 37, M.Z. Anas 7 for 51, Umair Khan 2 for 37).

Azar Central College: 279 all out in 62 overs (Mohammed Waseer 26, Mohammed Hafeez 52, M.Z. Anas 15, Umair Khan 46, Mohammed Anslan 52, Neomal Pandith 2 for 51, Lakshitha Suresh 4 for 42, Akila Vithanage 2 for 82) and 40 for 2 in 8.4 overs (M.Z. Anas 34).
