Sebastianites fight back to force a draw

St. Sebastians College after thrilling by 15 runs in their first essay fought back courageously to declare at 234 for 7 and setting a victory target of 220 runs to St. Benedict's College, Kotahena in their inter-school under-19 cricket match played at Kotahena.

Resuming at 133 for 5 Bens were all out for 155 runs due to a superb bowling spell by Sebs Skipper Amila Aponso who bagged 6 for 32.

In their second essay Sebs declared at 234 for 7 with a brilliant 103 runs by Sangeeth Cooray who had eight fours and two sixes facing 183 balls and occupying the crease for 206 minutes while Anushka Perera contributed 65 runs.

Set to make 220 for an outright win homesters were 63\1 at the close.

St. Sebastians: 140 and 234\7 dec. (Sangeeth Cooray 103, Anushka Perera 65, Anuk Fernando 31, Jason Perera 2 for 75, Dilan Angelo 2 for 72).

St. Benedict's: (overnight 133/5) - 155 all out (Amila Aponso 6 for 32, Sanitha de Mel 3 for 56 and 63 for 1 (Janidu Karunartilleke 24 n.o.).
