J'pura University alumni meet

A series of important decisions were taken at a special committee meeting of the Alumni Association of Sri Jayawardenapura University presided over by Acting President of the Alumni Association, Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake and Minister of Education Bandula Gunawardana.

The annual general meeting of the Alumni Association, which is long overdue, will be held on March 31 in Colombo to elect the new office bearers.

The new office bearers will be elected from among non-politicians so that they could allocate more time for the advancement of the Association.

A number of Cabinet Ministers, leading personalities such as Sanasa Development Bank representative P.A. Kiriwandeniya, Laugfs Group Chairman W. Wegapitiya, Editors Guild Chairman Siri Ranasinghe, Dr. Sunil Jayantha Nawaratna, Prof. Roland Abeypala, senior media person, novelist and poet Buddhadasa Galappatti, Professor Abeyratna Bandara and former students of the University attended the special committee meeting.
