Fuel saving platinum FD47 unveiled

Tyre Lanka Trading Company, a subsidiary of U and H Wheel Services (Pvt) Ltd., launched the fuel saving platinum FD47 at the Institute of Engineers on Wednesday.

FD47, popularly known as the Fuel Doctor across the globe is an invention of a Thai scientist whose contribution has revolutionised the vehicle industry.

The device enhances the fuel economy, reduces emissions and increases power of the vehicle.

Chief Technology Officer, Fuel Doctor Holding Inc. USA, Douglas Hungerford said that FD47 is globally recognised as a technological masterpiece that increases the vehicle's MPG (mileage per gallon) by 20 percent which slashes the fuel cost and reduces the carbon footprint.

He said that the Fuel Doctor helps reduce electrical noise in the power system of vehicles including the fuel injection system which improves fuel efficiency. "Enhancing firing of the engine helps increase the gas mileage and as a result of less gas use the carbon footprint reduces", Hungerford said.

Chartered Engineer Nalaka Gunasinghe said that around 35 percent of the fuel is wasted in the transportation sector due to lack of planning of trips, poor maintenance and operational loss.

He said that prioritising journeys, the timing, combination of trips, selection of routes, avoiding excessive idling, high speed, switching off air condition and headlights when not necessary would help increase the fuel economy of the vehicle and reduce environment pollution.

He said that Sri Lanka spends around US$ 5 billion on fuel imports of which the transportation sector accounts for around 53 percent of fuel consumption.

Quick acceleration and heavy braking, excessive idling, driving at a higher speed, cold weather and frequent short trips, cargo and cargo racks, towing, electrical accessories, mountainous terrain and four-wheel drive reduces the fuel economy.

Tyre Lanka Trading Company Managing Director Wasantha Perera said that FD47 has been tested and proved to be a great device to save on fuel and reduce emissions.

The FD47 cannot be used on hybrid or electric cars. Tyre Lanka Trading Company is a distributor of Boto tyres, league alloy wheels, yuelling alloy wheels and Heng-an tubes and stoker of Dunlop tyres.
