Ananda Abhiman exhibition
Ananda College, Colombo, held an exhibition titled Ananda Abhiman to
mark its 125th anniversary from March 26 to 30 at the College premises.
Ananda College, the country’s premier Buddhist educational
institution was founded in 1886 by Col. Henry Steele Olcott. Ananda
Abhiman featured exhibits by its 7,000 students as well as by the
Security Forces and several State and private sector institutions.
Among the students’ exhibits were several inventions including cars.
This was also the first time that all diplomatic missions in the country
participated in a school exhibition to provide information on their
countries.
The event also included musical shows, art shows and cultural events
such as popular dramas. Several old boys of the school who hold
prominent positions in society were the chief guests on the exhibition
days. Students from all parts of Sri Lanka visited the exhibition and
there was also an enthusiastic response by old boys and well-wishers.
