Visha Manohari de Silva, the creator, choreographer and educator is
presenting another dancing extravaganza 'Chalana 3' at Lionel Wendt
Theatre on Apirl 7 at 7 pm with the participation of senior students of
Visha School of Dance. The performance is choreographed by Visha's
daughter Vindya de Silva under her guidance.
A past pupil of Visakha Vidyalaya and a graduate of the University of
Kelaniya, Visha was guided and trained by internationally acclaimed
guru, the late Chithrasena and his wife Vajira.
She is currently in charge of traditional dancing section of
Wycherley International School in addition to the position of Regional
Director of the famous Ryan International School chain in India.
Most of the students who are participating in the live recital have
performed in Japan, Korea, Denmark, Thailand, Taiwan, Hungary, India,
Switzerland and Malaysia in dancing festivals and competitions.
The patrons will live through a series of extremely delightful, well
composed mixture of traditional Kandyan dancing, Sri Lankan folk dancing
and a fusion of traditional and contemporary dancing.
The swift and graceful dancers will captivate the audience with their
vibrant moves.

Some of the dance segments which will be performed are the Gajaga
Vannama, one of the traditional Vannamas which depicts the magnificent
movements of the elephant.
It is performed with graceful movements of the female dancers.
"Chatur" is a dance which portrays the four elements: earth, water,
air and fire which will be a fusion of traditional and contemporary
dance movements. Visha's daughter, Vindya will prove her prowess in
dance through her traditional performance and will demonstrate her
versatility through her performance of "The Dream."
Chalana 3 will be an enthralling dance performance presenting a
diversity of Sri Lankan dance forms.
