CRICKET: Hashan Vimarshana of St. Thomas' College, Matara won the
Singer Sri Lanka award for Best Batsman and Special Award presented by
cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya for his excellent performance with both bat
and ball against their arch rivals, St. Servatius College, Matara in the
112th Ruhunu 'Battle of the Blues' which was played over three days at
the Uyanwatta Stadium, Matara recently.
Hashan, who was the opening bowler for St. Thomas' captured two
important wickets with his superb spell of fast bowling and contributed
with 76 runs to their total with the bat. He was the highest scorer for
St. Thomas'.
He is a year-12 student and has shown a great improvement in the
sport during the recent past and played a vital role in school's many
cricket victories.
