Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, during his recent visit to Japan, held discussions with Japanese “Tuna King” Kiyoshi Kimura Chairman of multinational trade giant, Kiyo-mura Corporation.Minister Senaratne was welcomed by Kimura in Tokyo. Sri Lankan Consular General for Japan Sunil M. Gamage and Colombo National Hospital Acting Director Specialist Dr. Sujatha Senaratne look on.

 

 

The ceremony to lay the foundation stone for the proposed Mahindodaya Tech-nical Laboratory in Kothalawala Pura Maha Vidyalaya, Rat-malana, sponsored by Chairman of Val-libel Finance Dam-mika Perera and Monitoring MP of the Ministry of Edu-cation Mohan Lal Grero was held recently.The school will be equipped with an IT laboratory, language and mathematic cen-tre and library.Minis-ter of Education Bandula Gunaward-ane and Mohan Lal Grero laid the foun-dation stones.Also present were Chief Minister, West-ern Province Pras-sanna Ranathunga, Director of Educa-tion (Western Prov-ince) Nalaka Ailap-peruma and Princi-pal Kothalawalapura Maha Vidyalaya Major D.M.L.K. Dis-sanayake.

 

The Aziz Foundation felicitated senior journalist, Chief Editor Thinakaran newspaper, S. Thillainathan for his dedicated service to journalism and awarded him the A. Aziz Memorial plaque recently at a ceremony held at the All Ceylon Muslim League youth Front office in Narahenpita, chaired by President, Sri Lanka Muslim Media Forum N.M. Ameen. Here Justice Minister Rauf Hakeem presents the award. Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran and President of the Foundation, Ashraff Aziz were also present.

 

SLBC Chairman, Hudson Samarasinghe, Director, Cmdr. Lionel Pinto and Actg. Chief Engineer H.M. Jackson of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation in discussions with SLBC engineers on the Military Mountain in Yatiyantota, 5,000 feet above sea level. The discussion was centred the installation of a transmitter to further enhance the SLBC ‘reach’.

The Lake House Maharagama Group Correspon-dent Thuduwage Sirisena was felicitated by the Maharagama Urban Council for his contributions to the development projects through his media in 2011.
