Waidyatilaka Technical Delegate at IAAF Diamond League

ATHLETICS: P.H.D. Waidyatilaka the International Technical Official who has officiated at all major athletic championships including Olympic Games, World Championships, World Cup, Commonwealth Games, World University Games, Asian Games and Asian Championships will take wing to Doha, Qatar this week to take charge of the IAAF Diamond League Championship to be held on 11th May in Doha.

All Technical Matters will come under his purview and this is the second occassion Waidyatilaka will be the Technical Delegate in Doha, and this is the fifth consecutive year he will be Technical Delegate at a Diamond League. On three earlier occasions he was assigned to Shanghai Championships.

Doha championships will have a large array of world's top athletes vying for titles. The third and fourth fastest sprinters of all time Asafa Powell and Nesta Carter from Jamaica along with Justin Gatlin will vie for the fastest man title in Doha.

In the 200m last year winner Walter Dix of USA will go all out to retain his title while the 400m will be a clash between Olympic champion Lashawn Merritt and 400m hurdles Olympic champion Anjelo Taylor for the top spot.

The women's sprints will be a battle between Allyson Felix USA and three world top sprinters from Jamaica Veronica Campbell Brown, Shelly Anne Frazer and Keeran Stewart.
