SL U-17 team triumph

A 174 run stand for the second wicket between Kusal Mendis (116) of Prince Of Wales College and Hashan Damindu (68) of Gurukula MV, Kelaniya helped the touring Sri Lanka Under-17 team to beat their Indian counterparts in their Coca Cola Trophy Under-17 cricket encounter played at the Mysore University, Platinum Stadium in Mysore on Friday.

The second wicket pair of Kusal Mendis and Hashan Damindu was in fine form when the they utilised 196 deliveries for the 174 runs stand. Mendis struck 15 fours and faced 122 deliveries for his 116 and Damindu's 68 had nine fours facing 93 deliveries.

Chief Scores

Coca Cola XI: 240 for 8 in 50 overs (Safraz Khan 49 n.o, Nitini Tanwar 49, Sidhartha Sehvag 42, Lakshan Jayasinghe 2 for 33).

Sri Lanka Under-17: 244 for 3 in 45.2 overs (Kusal Mendis 116, Hashan Damindu 68, Adeesha Thilanchana 28 n.o, Kavindu Kulasekera 26 n.o, Suraj Raj 2 for 49).
