Protesters in Bahrain marched through the streets
Friday to criticize government plans to boost cooperation between
the island state and Saudi Arabia. The proposed unity plans have
heightened already tense relations between Manama and Riyadh, on one
side, and Tehran on the other.

The photos taken by a tourist from Scotland show
his wife on the ground, hair flying, blood on her neck, with two
cheetahs nearby. The Port Elizabeth Herald reported Friday that
Violet D'Mello of Aberdeen, Scotland, was attacked by cheetahs while
in a petting pen with the animals at a game reserve near Port
Elizabeth in southeastern South Africa.

generations of European royalty fetched nine million Swiss francs
($9.7 million) at auction in Geneva on Tuesday.The 35-carat "Beau
Sancy" diamond was worn by Marie de Medici, Queen consort of Henry
IV, at her coronation in 1610.
