Interdicted policemen extort money

An interdicted S.I. and a police constable who posed as M.S.D. Officers and collected Rs. 80,000 from a metal crusher at Salmalgama, Hambantota were taken into custody on Monday according to the Tangalle Crime Detection unit of Tangalle division.

The suspects were from Thalpawila and Gonaduwa. The owner was abroad at the time of the incident and a co-owner, a woman is also suspected to be involved in the case, according to the police. The woman and several others have been taken into custody by the Hambantota police.
