India beat Sri Lanka by 20 runs

India beat Sri Lanka by 20 runs in the fifth and final one day international at Pallekele yesterday to clinch the series 4-1. Sri Lanka replying to India’s total of 294 for 7, were all out for 274 when Lasith Malinga was caught by Suresh Raina on the long-on boundary. The Lankans were helped by two fine knocks by Lahiru Thirimanne 77 and Jeevan Mendis 72.

Earlier, three fine knocks by opener Gautham Gambhir (88), Manoj Thiwari (65) and skipper M S Dhoni (58 n.o) helped India amass 294 for 7 in their allotted 50 overs.
