Mallika Satchithananda qualifies for Asian C’ships

ATHLETICS: Mallika Satchithananda at the Sri Lanka Masters Athletic Championships held on July 28 and 29 and thereby won the Best Performance Trophy for track events for women.

In getting the best performance award, Mallika competing in the over 75 years age category, won four events — 100 metres 22.5 seconds, 200 metres 47.9 seconds, Race Walking - 5 k.m. in 41 mins 59.5 seconds and 400 metres in 1 min 59.5 seconds.

All four events were won in record timings. Now Mallika has qualified to run at the Asian Masters Athletic Championships to be worked off in Chinese Taipei in November this year.
