Motorcycles for women development officers

Motorcycles will be provided soon for women development officers, said Child Development and Women's Affairs Minister Tissa Karalliyadde.

Funds to purchase motor cycles have been provided by the Norwegian government. Outgoing Norwegian Ambassador in Sri Lanka Hilde Haraldstad made a courtesy call on Minister Karalliyadde at the ministry last week.

She agreed to provide more assistance for the welfare activities of the ministry staff and activities related to women and children in the country.

The Minister briefed the Ambassador on the recent projects launched for the benefit of children and women in Sri Lanka.

An islandwide program to motivate field officers on children's and women's safety will be launched next week in Anuradhapura. The laws against child abuse and harassment of women and the international vision on children and women will be discussed at these programs, the Minister said.
