Walk to create awareness on epilepsy

The Neurology Unit of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital in association with the Ministry of Health (NP) and Ministry of Education organised a walk on Wednesday to create awareness among people on epilepsy. Minister of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Douglas Devananda inaugurated the walk.

This was the first-ever awareness walk for this type of disease to be held in Jaffna. The walk started from the Jaffna Teaching Hospital and moved along Hospital Road, Kasthuriayar Road, Stanley Road and Point Pedro Road and reached the Jaffna Public Library.

Religious leaders, schoolchildren, the Medical Society of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital, staff of the Health Ministry (NP) and the public participated in the walk carrying slogans on epilepsy.

Prof. Ranjini Gamage (Neurology) Colombo National Hospital participated as the chief guest at the main event at the Jaffna Public Library.
