Insurance professional achieves corporate milestone

Senior Manager - Actuarial Services at Ceylinco Life, Saroja Kamini Gunatilleke, 28, has qualified as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, the chartered professional body for actuaries in the UK.

“She is the only Sri Lankan with this qualification currently working in the country’s insurance industry," a spokesman for the company said. Educated at Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo, Ms Gunatilleke secured a B.Sc. (Hons) First Class in Mathematics from the University of Manchester in 2005 and followed it up with an M.Sc. First Class in Actuarial Science from the University of Kent and a Post Graduate Diploma in Actuarial Science from the same university.

Congratulating her on being conferred Fellow status at one of the world’s premier institutes for actuaries, Ceylinco Life’s Managing Director and CEO R. Renganathan said, “Long term risk management and planning are critical in life insurance, and we are proud to employ the only practising Sri Lankan with this qualification”.
