Bad oil stocks seized in Wattala

Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) officials who raided a store in
Wattala seized 5,000 litres of vegetable oil which were unfit for
consumption, Authority sources said.The raid was conducted on a
directive by Co-operative and Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando.
The oil consignment had been collected from Pettah, a Co-operative and
Internal Trade Ministry official said.
The consignments were seized when they were being prepared to be
released to the market, the sources said. There were 1,520 packets, each
containing three litres of oil, the official noted.
Legal action will be taken against the person who is conducting this
illegal business, he said.
