O+ Kidney wanted
Forty-six-year-old M.M.A. Naushad of 22, Maligawatta Rd, Colombo 10
has end stage renal disease and needs to undergo a renal transplant as a
definitive treatment.
He also needs to find a voluntary kidney donor according to
Consultant Neurologist, Dr. Surjit Somiah of Lanka Hospitals.
His blood group is O positive.

Fathima Fazlina, of 85/2, 6th Mile Post, Hapugastenna, Madawala
Bazaar, a mother of three is suffering from advanced chronic kidney
failure. She needs an immediate kidney transplantation. Dr.A.W.M. Wazil,
Consultant Nephrologist of the General Hospital (Teaching) Kandy has
recommended an urgent kidney transplant operation to save her life.
The surgery is estimated to cost around Rupees ten hundred thousand.
She appeals to the generous public for help and a O+ve kidney.

Thirty-nine-year-old T.G.R.M. Shirani of 31, Dutugemunu Rd,
Moneragala is suffering from menningioma and has been recommended
immediate surgery by Consultant Cardio-Thoracic Surgeon of Sri
Jayawardenepura General Hospital, Dr. Maheshi Wijeratne.
The cost of disposables and drugs is estimated to cost around Rs.
450,000, which has to be paid on admission. As she is in dire financial
straits, she appeals to the generous public for assistance. Those

National Literary Festival
The National Literary Festival and cultural celebrations organised by
the Panadura Divisional Secretariat and the National Heritage Ministry’s
Cultural Affairs Department will be held at the Panadura Town Hall on
September 24 from 9 a.m.President of the Sinhala Writers’ Organisation
Dr. Leel Gunasekera will be the chief guest, Panadura Divisional
Secretariat K.G. Wijesiri will chair the sessions.
‘Saga’ on ITN on Sept 23
‘Saga’, the Royal College musical extravaganza is known the musical
legend of the East and the West since it includes various sectors of
music such as Indian, classical, rock, pop, jazz and folk music. The
musical show gives a great opportunity to Royalists as well as the
students in other schools all over the country to unleash the boundaries
of their talents in singing, dancing and drama items. Since its
inception in 2004 it has been continuously appearing in the school
calendar and staged at Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa theatre in 2012.
Due to popular demand by many who had missed the opportunity to
witness the grandest musical event, it will be telecast on ITN at 12.30
p.m. on September 23.
Worship musical
The choir of St.Francis of Assisi will present a worship musical,
‘God in Us’ on Saturday, September 29 at 6.00 p.m. at the Church of
St.Francis of Assisi, Hotel Road, Mount Lavinia.
Tagore Day at Sri Palee
A ceremony to pay tribute to India’s greatest poet and Nobel Prize
winner Gurudeva Rabindranath Tagore has been organised by the Principal,
students and past pupils of Sri Palee College, Horana on September 25 at
9.00 a.m. at the College premises.
Gurudeva laid the foundation stone to set up Sri Palee College on the
lines of Santhiniketan. It will be held under the patronage of Senior
Minister for Good Governance and Infrastructure, Ratnasiri
Wickramanayake and MP Vidura Wickramanayake. Indian High Commissioner to
Sri Lanka Shri Ashok K. Kantha will be the guest of honour on the
occasion.
Church to celebrate 125th anniversary
The Church of St. Michael and All Angels, Polwatta will celebrate its
125th anniversary on Saturday, September 29 at 8 a.m. Followed by a
procession of witnesses.
The Bishop of Colombo the Rt. Rev. Dhilo Canagasabey will be the
celebrant and preacher.
AGM, get-together on Sept 30
The tenth Annual General Meeting and get-together of the Irrigation
Department Ex-Officers Association will be held at Randiya Hotel,
Koralawella, Moratuwa on September 30, commencing at 10.00 am.
Musical show
Dakshina Gee Miyasiya, a musical show by Sengawunu Ridma musical
group of disabled artistes will be held at the Karapitiya College of
Education auditorium this evening.
