Varsity's '63 entrants to celebrate Golden Jubilee
The University of Ceylon's '63 entrants will celebrate the Golden
Jubilee with scholarships for 63 needy undergraduates.
The award of 63 scholarships to academically brilliant needy
undergraduates which include 14 differently-abled undergrads with
special needs will be the highlight at the Golden Jubilee celebrations
of the 1963 Entrants to the University of Ceylon, Peradeniya. The event
will be held on July 14, 2013 at the Mount Lavinia Hotel.
Organised by the Alumni of University of Ceylon 1960-1969,
Peradeniya, the 63 undergraduates identified as those who need
assistance by the Peradeniya University, will receive a scholarship
award of a minimum of Rs. 12,000 each. The Alumni has set up a Fund and
the extent of funds raised will reflect the value and the number of the
scholarships.
The Alumni earnestly hopes that the University colleagues of the
1960s here and abroad, donors and well wishers will contribute
generously to help enhance the Fund.
The Alumni formed in 2004 with social responsibility being part of
its agenda, had been awarding scholarships to needy undergraduates of
the Peradeniya University, three of whom had already graduated and two
who continue to receive financial assistance.
The '63 Entrants, being products of Sri Lanka's foremost University
and having studied during its "Golden Age" have made contributions in
varied fields within and outside Sri Lanka.
University contemporaries of all Faculties, Sinhalese, Tamils and
Muslims and University Teachers of the 1960s will attend the luncheon on
July 14, 2013 at the Mount Lavinia Hotel.
