Ananda College anniversary on Nov.1
Ananda College, the foremost Sinhala, Buddhist educational
institution in the island will celebrate its 126th anniversary on
November 1, under the guidance of the Principal, Brevet Col. L.M.D.
Dharmasena.
A series of meritorious acts will be performed at the school premises
with the participation of students, teachers and parents commencing
October 31, including a 'Sangika Dhana', to 35 bhikkus on November 1.
BLC prize-giving on Nov 7
Buddhist Ladies' College, Colombo 7 (BLC) will hold its annual
prize-giving, 2011 on Wednesday, November 7 at 3.00 p.m. at the
Kularatne Hall, Ananda College, Colombo 10, under the auspices of Chief
Sanganayake of Colombo and Chilaw Districts Ven. Dr. Walamitiyawe
Kusaladhamma Nayaka Thera.
Director of SLIDA, M. Thilakasiri will be the chief guest while
Director, Zonal Educational Office, Colombo 2, Jayantha Nanayakkara will
be the guest of honour.
Hearing impairment: appeal for help
Two-year-old baby Senehas Randilu, son of P.V. Janitha Sampath de
Alwis of "Samaragiri", Mathugama, Polgampola is suffering from hearing
impairment from birth. Consultant ENT Surgeon Dr. A.D.K.S.N. Yasawardana
of the Ridgeway Hospital, Colombo has recommended a cochlear implant
surgery. The cost of the imported implant model is around Rupees 32
lakhs and the parents who are of poor income group appeal for assistance
for this worthy cause.

Sunday Observer staffer's father-in-law expired
Jurie Reginald, father-in-law of Sunday Observer senior staffer Lalin
Fernandopulle passed away on Friday evening. The funeral will take place
today at 3.30 p.m. at the Galkissa Cemetery. |
