A lecture by Dr. Janos Martonyi, Foreign Minister of Hungary on
'European Union: The Way Forward' will be held at the Ministry of
External Affairs from 6.00 to 7.30 pm on Wednesday.
IPS annual conference
The Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka (IPS) will organise its
Annual National Conference on 'How Can Sri Lanka Stay on the Growth
Expressway?' on Wednesday at the IPS Auditorium, Independence Avenue,
Colombo 7.
The conference is organised in connection with the launch of the IPS
State of the Economy 2012 Report.
Lecture by Prof. Ravindra Fernando
Prof. Ravindra Fernando, Head and Senior Professor of Forensic
Medicine and Toxicology of the Faculty of Medicine of Colombo will
deliver an illustrated public lecture on 'Medico-Legal Aspects of
Torture in Sri Lanka' on November 14 at 6.00 p.m. at the Auditorium of
Organisation of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka, Prof. Stanley
Wijesundera Mawatha, Colombo 7, organised by the British Scholars
Association of Sri Lanka.
The lecture is open to the public.
'B+/O+' kidney needed
Saliya Gunasekara (65), of 32/1, Senanayake Place, Dehiwela is
suffering from renal failure and Consultant Nephrologist of the National
Institute for Nephorology, Dialysis and Transplantation Dr. S.M.
Seneviratne has recommended kidney transplantation.

Heart patient appeals for help
Thirty-seven-year-old M.D.T. Chandimal of 33/68, Gonagolla, Ampara,
is suffering from unstable angina with tight lesion in mid LCX and has
been advised to undergo urgent Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary
Angioplasty by the Consultant Clinical and Interventional Cardiologist
of the Asiri Surgical Hospital, Dr. Vajira Senaratne. The approximate
cost of the procedure is Rs. 600,000 and the patient who cannot afford
the cost, appeals to the generous public for financial assistance.
