Two provincial news correspondents of
Kalutara received letters of appointment as Justices of the
Peace (JP) on a recommendation by the Chief Organiser of the
Rajitha Senaratne Foundation, J.A.C. Peiris recently. Here

The ceremonial opening of the newly
constructed Stupa and the unveiling of the pinnacle
at the Palliyagodella Purana Vihara at De Soyza Road,
Rawatawatta, Moratuwa will be held on November 6 at 3.30
p.m. The temple, with an almost 400 year old history is one
of the oldest in the area. The Chief Incumbent Ven. Urgaha
Nagitha Thera and Dayaka Sabha member Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne
undertook this meritorious task to raise funds to build a
Stupa and renovate the temple. A special Bodhi Pooja and a
Pagoda Pooja have also been
organised on that day from 7 p.m.
Three students of Royal College bagged a
top prize at a prestigious IT competition held in the US
recently for developing a new software for maintaining the
secrecy of mobile phone short messages (SMSs). Chamath
Palihawadana, Roshanal Lihinikaduwa and Adeesha Gammanpila
won second palce at Oracle Think Quest 2012, conducted by
the Oracle Education Foundation. Their demonstration on how
the new software, when installed in the mobile phone,
protect outgoing SMSs by a coded system helped them earn
