The birth of another water sport in Sri Lanka - Powerboat Racing from
Formula 1 to Formula 4, should no doubt add more glamour to the sport
and a big boost to tourism when it gets into full throttle in the near
future.
The sport got its baptism on October 28 with a spectacular display at
the Cinnamon Lake Side promising much more for the future. Prasanne
Ranaweera the President of the Lanka Power Boat
Association and his involvement with the UIM which is the governing
body of the Power Boats in the world was optimistic that the sport could
be popularised once it gets into full swing. The UIM will help the local
and foreign clubs and different companies to bring their own teams.
