Eranda leaps to new SL record
One Sri Lanka record and four meet records took a
beating on day two at the 90th Athletic National Championships held
at the Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday. In the men’s triple jump event
Army’s Eranda Dinesh Fernando broke a six year old record with a new
mark of 16.37 metres bettering the previous 16.26 metres set by S.D.
Weerasinghe in 2006.

AIS swimmers set up three new meet records
Three new meet records were set up by Asian
International School swimmers at the 18th edition of the
Inter-International School Swimming Meet held at the Sugathadasa
Stadium Swimming Pool yesterday. Asian International School’s
Matthew Abeysinghe established a new meet record in the 50m
Butterfly event clocking 27.14. AIS’ Ali Isphahani finished the 50m
Breakstroke in 32.29 seconds.
